Recently, a viral disease called tomato flu is spreading rapidly in India. So far hundreds of children have been affected by this disease. According to Indian media NDTV, the central government of India has sent an instruction on tomato flu to all the states of the country on Tuesday. That said, the disease is believed to be a form of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD). It mainly occurs in children under 10 years of age. But it can also happen to adults.

If infected with this disease, tomato-shaped blisters appear in different parts of the body. In the early stages of the disease, the red blisters are small, but later they swell and become tomato-like. So far, the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Odisha have identified patients with the disease.

According to a report by Livemint, more than 100 children under the age of 9 have been diagnosed with tomato flu in India. A patient with tomato flu was detected in Kullam, Kerala state on May 6. Later it spread to Ariyankavu, Anchal and Neduvathur in Kerala.

According to the central government guidelines, children should be informed about the symptoms of tomato flu. It is a type of hand, foot and mouth disease in children. It can cause symptoms like general fever, headache, itching, screen rash. However, such symptoms are not related to Corona, Monkeypox, Dengue or Chikungunya. It can usually spread from things like children’s dirty clothes, being in unsanitary places or eating food without washing their hands.

Doctors advised quarantine of ‘tomato flu’ patients and insisted on sterilizing utensils and clothing used by them.In order to prevent this disease, experts have advised to use hot water for bathing the baby along with cleanliness. Apart from this, you should eat a balanced diet rich in nutrients to increase immunity. Adequate rest and sleep are essential for speedy recovery
