Newshub18 :The father of Rushdie’s “assailant” refuses to talk to anyone.

The father of Hadi Matar, a teenager arrested as a suspect in the attack on British novelist Salman Rushdie, refuses to talk to anyone. He is staying at his home in the southern city of Yaroun in Lebanon. The door of the house is locked from inside. The news agency Reuters reported this information about the mayor of Yarun, Ali Tehf.
Police arrested 24-year-old Hadi Matar after the attack on Salman Rushdie last Friday. He was accused of ‘premeditated attack’. However, Hadi denied that the attack was intended to kill Matar.
Hadi Matar is a US citizen of Lebanese descent. His parents are residents of Yaroun, Lebanon. Yarun Mayor Ali Tehfe said Matar’s parents later immigrated to the United States. That’s where Matar was born, that’s where he grew up. Currently he is a resident of New Jersey, USA. However, Matar’s parents returned to Lebanon a few years ago.

“His father is now in this country,” Tehfe told Reuters. But he has kept himself under house arrest. Not agreeing to talk to anyone. We tried to talk to him, sent people there. After going there and knocking on the door of the house, he refuses to talk to anyone.
An official of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah said on Saturday that they do not know more than what has been revealed about the attack on Rushdie. The official said on condition of anonymity, “We don’t know anything about this.” So I do not want to comment on this.

Iran supports the armed group Hezbollah. And the former supreme religious leader of this country, Ayatollah Ali Khomeini, issued a fatwa against Rushdie in 1989. He called upon Muslims to kill Rushdie for insulting Islam.
Ali Tehf was asked whether Matar or her parents were involved with Hezbollah or supported the organization. In response, he said that he has no information about the political views of Matar and his parents.

75-year-old Salman Rushdie of Indian origin was attacked before giving a speech at a literary event at the Shitokoya Institute in New York last Friday.
The injured Rushdie was airlifted to a hospital in Pennsylvania. He underwent surgery there. Rushdie was put on ventilation. On Sunday, his son and associate said that Rushdie’s physical condition is improving
