Loose eyes! Meanwhile, when you go to sleep, you can’t sleep anymore. Scientists have developed a new mattress to put you to sleep faster. A group of scientists from the University of Texas has developed a wonderful mattress that uses heating and cooling to create the right conditions for people to sleep. A pillow is offered with this mattress, which can be of great help to the users. Scientists claim that it can be best for those who stay up late at night mainly because of their smartphones.
But how can a mattress be so amazing, you wonder? It warms the neck, hands and feet of people and induces sleepy feeling in the body.”We facilitate preparation for sleep by briefly manipulating the body’s internal temperature-sensitive sensors to adjust the body’s thermostat, so that the mattress perceives that temperature to be warmer than it actually is,” says Shahab Haghaigh, who developed the mattress at UT AustinMore.”
How was this mattress tested?
In a new paper published in the Journal of Sleep Research, researchers tested a total of 11 subjects with this mattress. To implement the objective, people were asked to go to bed two hours earlier than their usual bedtime. Several nights they were asked to use the cooling and warming functions of the mattress. They were forbidden to do this on other nights.
Test results showed that they fell asleep faster the night they used the mattress. They fell asleep at least 58% faster on nights when they slept under normal conditions, i.e. without using this mattress. The mattress mainly targets the neck skin. “The skin of the neck is an important body thermostat for humans,” the researchers claim.
“The watch is designed to simultaneously cool the core parts of the body while warming the neck, hands and feet, thereby increasing blood flow to dissipate body heat,” a press release says.
“What’s remarkable is how effective gentle warming along the cervical spine is in sending a signal to the body and increasing blood flow to the hands and feet to reduce core temperature and sleep onset,” says Kenneth Diller, an engineering professor at UT
