The results of the last two months of elections were announced on Monday. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has been announced as the leader of Britain’s ruling Conservative Party and the next Prime Minister. Boris Johnson’s preferred candidate Liege was already ahead in this fight. On Monday afternoon, he defeated Rishi Sunak and snatched the title of the next Prime Minister. Margaret Elizabeth Truss. Liz was born on July 26, 1975 in Oxford. His father was a professor of mathematics at the University of Leeds. Mother was a Latin teacher at Bolton School. Truss married Hugh O’Leary in 2000. He has two daughters.
He attended Roundhay School in the Roundhay area of Leeds. He studied philosophy, politics and economics at Merton College. He graduated in 1996.
Career started in 1999 at the age of 24. He started his career as a Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA). Later engaged in cable and wireless. He was promoted to the position of financial director before leaving the organization in 2005. He then contested three elections. But lost. Then in January 2008, he became the Deputy Director of Reforms.
From 1998 to 2000 he held the position of chair of the Lewisham Deptford Conservative Association. Then in 2006 Greenwich contested the London Borough Council election and was elected as a councilor for Eltham South.
Elected as a member of the House of Commons on 6 May 2010. On September 4, 2012, Truss was appointed as Under Secretary of the Department of Education. Apart from this, he is also responsible for reviewing childcare, primary education, assessment, qualifications, curriculum reform, behaviour, attendance and school meals. There was a reshuffle in the cabinet in 2014. At that time, on 15 July 2014, he was appointed as the Secretary of the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. He replaces Wayne Patterson.
In 2016, he joined Theresa May’s First Cabinet. Began as Secretary of Justice and Lord Chancellor. He created history by accepting this responsibility. Liz is the first woman to hold both positions simultaneously. Liz Truss became the first female Lord Chancellor in the thousand-year history of the Lord Chancellor’s office.
Then in 2017 general election was held in Britain. He was promoted to the position of Principal Secretary of the Treasury on 11 July that year. Then in 2019, his political life was waiting for another turning point. He surprised everyone by announcing that he would be a candidate to succeed Theresa May as leader of the Conservative Party. But in the end he put Boris Johnson ahead. He preached for him. Truss is known as Boris’ favorite politician. He was promoted to support Boris. Appointed as Secretary of International Trade. He also became the president of the Board of Trade. Truss was given the additional Women’s and Equality Ministry following the resignation of Amber Rudd from Boris’s cabinet. Meanwhile, in 2021, even bigger gains awaited Truss. The 21st Cabinet reshuffle changed from Foreign Trade Secretary to Foreign and Commonwealth and Development Affairs Secretary. And that is at the hands of Boris Johnson. She was the second woman to hold the office after Margaret Beckett. Fate was opening in 2021.
