Newshub18 :Gujarat riots: Social activist Teesta Shitalbad arrested the day after Modi’s case dismissed.
The Supreme Court of India on Friday dismissed an appeal against the acquittal of Narendra Modi on charges of involvement in the Gujarat riots. The next day, one of the joint petitioners, Teesta Shitalbad, a social worker, was arrested.
In an interview with ANI on Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “I read the court’s verdict very carefully. The verdict clearly mentions the name of Teesta coolness. Meanwhile, Ahmedabad police have also arrested retired state police director general Arabi Srikumar. An FIR has been lodged against Srikumar on the basis of allegations by the state police.
On Saturday morning, Gujarat police lodged a complaint against Teesta Shitalbad, NDTV reported. The harsh remarks made by Narendra Modi in the Gujarat case last Friday in the Supreme Court verdict with a ‘clinchit’ had some clear indications against the Teesta NGO. The case was sorted out with allegations, forged and false documents. The case, in which the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi was acquitted, is one of his joint petitioners. The main petitioner was Zakia Jafri, wife of Ehsan Jafri, a former Congress MP killed in the Gujarat riots.
Last Friday, the Supreme Court dismissed the case. The verdict said that there was a nefarious conspiracy behind the filing of the case. A bench of Justice AM Khanbilkar also said that legal action should be taken against those responsible for the misuse of the system. It was also remarked that there was someone else’s instruction behind Zakia Jafri’s application.
What allegations have been made against Teesta chillism was not officially announced until Saturday night. However, according to various sources, multiple allegations including fraud and conspiracy have been brought against him. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
