Newshub18:Aam Aadmi’s failed operation Lotus in Punjab.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government won a landslide victory in the confidence vote in the Indian state of Punjab. BJP MLAs protested when Congress MLAs walked out during the trust vote on Monday. But this rivalry was of no use. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann won. Out of 117 MLAs in the Punjab state assembly, 93 voted in favor of AAP’s Maner government. After the polls, Chief Minister Mann of the six-month-old Punjab government said, “Operation Lotus has failed in Punjab”.
On September 27, Chief Minister Mann proposed a vote of confidence in the Legislative Assembly. After the discussion on that proposal yesterday, the voting took place. The Speaker asked those who are in favor of the proposal to raise their hands. A similar motion was voted against. After counting, a total of 93 MLAs including 91 Aam Aadmi Party MLAs (two from other parties) are supporting Bhagwant Singh Maner’s government.
As a result, the Speaker informed that the motion of confidence vote was unanimously passed. 18 Congress MLAs walked out without participating in the vote. BJP looks to Delhi to succeed in Maharashtra. After the ‘failure’ there, the BJP was desperate to capture Punjab.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party MLA and Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema alleged that the BJP had given an ‘offer’ of Rs 25 crore each to 10 AAP MLAs to switch parties.
However, the BJP rejected such a claim. At that time, the BJP in turn claimed that there was a crack in the AAP leadership in Punjab. That is why Mann called for a vote of confidence to prove his majority. After winning there, “Operation Lotus” failed in Punjab. Source: NDTV
